Here's my 2 cents:
1. Kris Allen (my upset pick to get to the final)
I think his boy band good looks will get the female teen vote and John Mayer-esque music sensibility will get the Cougar vote similar to David Cook and carry him to the finals. I think Anoop and Matt voters will switch to Kris voters once they're eliminated. I'm probably the only one picking him for the finals, but I think he could win in an upset.
2. Adam Lambert
People are always talking about his originiality, but all of his "original" arrangements have been borrowed from other musical artists (although obscure). I think people will catch on eventually that it's all musical theater to him.
3. Allison Iraheta
My personal favorite, I can't figure out why she's been in the bottom 3 a couple of times. She's the most talented high-schooler they've ever had (yes, better than David Archuleta). She's basically a 16 year old version of Kelly Clarkson. Song I wish she'd do: Concrete Blonde's "Joey". She doesn't suffer from the "You're only 16, you should sing younger hip songs" because she's flat out talented and can sell a song as if she wrote it herself.
4. Danney Gokey (my upset pick to choke)
I think his personal story has overshadowed his vocal prowess and originality. A bad song choice or two will probably end his run before he reaches the final.
5. Matt Giraud
The JT look-alike's inability to pick a genre will bite him in the butt eventually.
6. Anoop Desai
Proof that a great personality will get you far in life. Perhaps the most likeable contestant in AI history. Nice singer, but I can't quite envision him as a recording artist.
7. Lil Rounds
An early favorite by many, she's failed to impress during competition. Unless she sticks to doing Mary J Blige songs, she's going to be exiting stage left this week.
